Do you hear that? It’s the sound of us celebrating that another Logitech business headset, Zone 305, has been certified for Microsoft Teams over Native Bluetooth. The first was Zone Wireless 2.
So why are we popping the champagne over this? Don’t lots of people use dongless headsets daily? What makes this moment so special?
Because Microsoft has incredibly strict standards governing certification for their devices. They are diligent about ensuring devices pass a high standard defined for the business environment and provide functionality specifically tailored for Teams, like a dedicated Teams button.
And until January, they had never certified a wireless headset for Native Bluetooth without a dongle. So this is not just one first, but two firsts. If things go well, a third headset is on the way.
At face value, this may seem like a minor development, but it holds powerful implications for employees and IT managers.
Why Microsoft Native Bluetooth Certification Matters
Zone 305 and Zone Wireless 2 have passed rigorous testing with Microsoft to ensure they offer the same Microsoft Teams experience, and other productivity tools to reap the reliability and connectivity benefits of a dongle, but now without the hassle.
Employees can simply take it out of the box, pair quickly with Swift Pair, and be ready for that 8:00 AM call without submitting a single help-desk ticket. It’s built for Teams-specific tasks, so these headsets include controls that let employees answer calls, mute themselves, and enjoy crystal-clear audio.
For IT teams, certified devices mean fewer connection complaints, freeing up time for IT heroes to tackle other projects. In Microsoft environments, this certification ensures the headset is not just connected—but carries superior audio with an assurance of consistent, reliable performance whether there’s a workforce of 10 or 10,000.
It’s not that we’ve simply removed the dongle for a wireless experience. It’s that we’ve worked closely with Microsoft to ensure the headsets deliver high-quality, stable experiences with built-in Teams controls for specific use in Microsoft Teams environments.
Now that’s something to celebrate. For us, at least. Not so much for Dongle.
