As we kick-off the second week of Black History Month, Logitech takes this opportunity to honor and celebrate the contribution of African Americans and the Black Diaspora to its culture, its communities and society-at-large.
In light of the death of Tyre Nichols just last month, we’re reminded once again that there is still so much that needs to be done around social justice and equality for the Black Community, not only in this country, but around the world.
With this in mind, Logitech continues to focus this month on Black Futures Month, contemplating the Black Future, while taking a visionary, forward-looking spin on celebrations of Blackness, and asking, as a society, how we can do better. As a part of this conversation, we are talking about Afrofuturism – a term coined by Mark Dery in 1993 in his interview article “Black to the Future.“ Afrofuturism describes creative works within the African diaspora that focus on science, technology and design. Afrofuturism is all about shaping a new future and imagining an Afrocentric worldview.
Along with a number of internal events and cultural initiatives, Logitech is also celebrating and raising awareness for Black History Month with the following:
- Logitech G will be featuring creators of color on our #CreatorSpotlight streams on Twitch to highlight and amplify the voices of creators of color in our community, while raising money for WeXL Org. WeXL Org is a 501(c)3 nonprofit social enterprise based in San Francisco helping youth become creative and compassionate leaders. Follow Logitech G on Twitter for the schedule and tune in and watch the streams here.
- Logitech will be donating $5,000 to the Black Women’s Health Imperative, the only national organization dedicated to addressing the health and wellness of the US’s 22 million Black women and girls.
At Logitech, we consistently strive to create an inclusive culture. One that welcomes and celebrates everyone, especially those from underrepresented groups. We support our industry, peers and society as a whole to help eradicate social injustice and create an environment where all people feel valued, visible and recognized.
