Case Study: Piikkiö Comprehensive School with Zone Learn

As schools increasingly look to empower digital literacy and inclusion in response to the European Union Digital Decade,  Piikkiö Comprehensive School prioritizes preparing students for a global, digital workforce. The school first set out to equip students with iPads supported by Logitech Rugged Combo 3 and the Logitech Crayon. The results? More confidence, comfort and fun. Over half of Piikkiö students reported feeling more confident using learning apps with Rugged Combo 3, and 82% of students said they enjoyed lessons more. With the Logitech Crayon, 3/4 of students reported feeling comfortable using the stylus throughout their entire lesson, and thought Crayon made lessons more fun. In a follow up survey, one Piikkiö  educator wrote, "Students using Logitech Crayon paid more attention to fine details during work at hand."

Now, the school looked to find an audio solution that would boost student focus during independent comprehension exercises. 

To help students get focused, Piikkiö Comprehensive School turned to Logitech Zone Learn headsets. Students used Zone Learn headsets to assist with independent comprehension exercises, oral and reading activities.

Sustained focus and comfort were the outcomes. Over 90% of students reported that Logitech headset made it easier to focus compared to their previous headset, and 93% cited that they felt ‘comfortable to very comfortable’ using Zone Learning for an entire lesson period. To one student, Zone Learn’s greatest feature was the noise-suppression filter that offered an uninterrupted listening experience. “I sometimes have difficulty focusing in class, so It’s nice to put on headphones with white noise in the background, so you can concentrate,” explained the student.  Noise suppression wasn’t the only favored advantage. Because Zone Learn has audio drivers tuned for vocal clarity rather than music, Mrs. Harju said this was a critical feature for language learning and use of educational apps. More than 85% of students who had used language apps previously cited that Zone Learn boosted their confidence to speak and be heard more accurately by apps. Mrs. Harju added, “during oral presentations the sound quality is significantly better with Zone Learn.”

Zone Learn not only enriched the learning experience for students at Piikkiö Comprehensive School, it enabled a more inclusive and focused learning environment.
