Challenge

Outdated classrooms equipped with production rooms and fully integrated audio/visual capabilities had become obsolete due to the cost to run and maintain them. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the campus to shut down, the University needed flexible video collaboration solutions that could quickly and easily be adapted for both classroom and conference room needs and remain viable for many years to come.

Solution

Logitech’s video collaboration portfolio combines with Logitech Tap IP to provide standardized room controls in classrooms and conference rooms so that users are confident and remote participants receive equitable hybrid experiences. Its 130+ classrooms are equipped with the Logitech Tap for Zoom Base Bundle to support its “Attend Anywhere” model while maintaining other A/V capabilities. Logitech MeetUp and Rally Bar Minis make it easy and cost-effective to equip small rooms. In large conference rooms, the Rally Bar combines with the Logitech Tap IP, ceiling-mounted microphones, and the Logitech Scribe whiteboard camera to provide high-quality audio, video, and content sharing. The Rally Bar Plus with Tap IP provides the modularity needed for custom room requirements.

Results

In addition to supporting its hybrid workforce, the Logitech solutions enable PSU to support a new learning modality, “Attend Anywhere”.  This enables the University to expand its reach globally while giving nontraditional students flexible learning options. A recent survey revealed that 80% of students said it increased their confidence they could complete the course. Plus, Logitech’s compatibility with Google Meet and Zoom gives the University future-proof investments that enable educators to use their preferred video collaboration software. At a university level, the needs of a hybrid workforce have been met, while standardized rooms reduced costs and IT support requirements.
