Avni Fein

Avni Khatri

Senior Director for GitHub Education

Avni leads GitHub Education within GitHub's Developer Relations organization, helping learners access the tools and resources they need to successfully build software products. Her mission is to empower anyone who wants to code, enabling them to do so. She also volunteers with Internet-in-a-Box and is passionate about working with learners and educators of all types to make coding accessible to the next generation of developers worldwide.

Previously, she led product and programs for Amazon's AGI Foundations organization, delivering AI capabilities for AGI customers, including LLM functionalities for Alexa. As part of her work at Amazon, she served as the executive sponsor of the Women at Amazon Boston chapter.
She is also the 2017 recipient of the Red Hat-sponsored Women in Open Source Community Award for her efforts to empower kids to transform their lives through technology. Her work with Kids on Computers involves setting up computer labs equipped with Linux and free and open source software globally.

Girls who Code Alumni & Product Manager at Microsoft

Kanchan Kaur holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction at Iowa State University. Kanchan has prior experience in software engineering, with experiences at NASA JPL and additionally, she is passionate about entrepreneurship, having recently participated in a startup studio focused on defense technology. 

Kanchan is an advocate for underrepresented groups in tech and actively engages in speaking and mentorship roles to help foster a more inclusive industry. In addition to her role on the Girls Who Code Alumni Advisory Council, she is a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador and loves sharing her passion for tech with others.

Zoe Bachman

Curriculum Director

As the Head of Learning at Codecademy, Zoe Bachman finds new ways to make learning to code more accessible and engaging based on her experience as a creative technologist and classroom teacher. She’s designed a range of Codecademy courses including Learn HTML, the Full-Stack Career Path, and the beginner-friendly Learn How to Code.

Over the years, she’s worked closely with product teams to improve the interactive learning environment and invent new approaches to teaching online. A former member of The Illuminator and founder of the feminist tech collective tendernet, Zoe is passionately working to change the tech landscape and drive political engagement through creative interventions and education initiatives.

She holds a master’s degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU and teaches at the School of Visual Arts.

Deeply committed to expanding access to both, she actively works alongside her mother on initiatives to empower young children in India to thrive in a tech-driven world.
